If you’re waiting on a solar or battery installation with Tasmania Safer Solar, this page outlines our current regional timelines, what’s influencing them and how we are tackling these issues. We believe clear, upfront communication is the best way to earn and keep your trust.

Hobart

Estimated Hobart installation timeframe: 6–8 weeks from approval

Why Hobart is taking at 6–8 weeks:

Hobart has the highest concentration of installations across Tasmania. While this gives us strong installer coverage, it also means wait times can fluctuate quickly, particularly in seasonal demand, and industry-wide surges in battery installs.

What we’re doing:

  • Actively managing installer schedules week by week to progress installations as efficiently as possible.
  • Having our installation crews carry out site inspections in regions they are already servicing to help jobs progress sooner.
  • Improving communication so you’re not chasing us for information.

What to expect:

If your system isn’t ready to be booked yet, it means it’s still progressing through the necessary steps behind the scenes. We’ll contact you as soon as scheduling opens up.

Launceston

Estimated Launceston installation timeframe: 8-10 weeks from approval

Why Launceston region is taking slightly longer:

Launceston sits at a crossroads of demand from surrounding regions giving us more installations to complete in a wider geographic area. Our teams are often completing jobs as far as Gladstone, Campbell Town and St Helen’s.

What we’re doing:

  • Opened a dedicated warehouse in Legana to improve logistics and deliver more efficient services.
  • Hired an additional technical advisor to complete site inspections and help more installs progress.
  • Consolidating installs geographically to reduce delays in more remote locations.

What to expect:

While the wait can feel long, your installation is moving through the required steps. We’ll be in touch as soon as it’s ready to be scheduled.

Devonport-Burnie

Estimated Devonport-Burnie installation timeframe: up to 3 months from approval

Why this region has longer wait times:

We understand that a three-month wait is significant, and we want to be upfront about why servicing the Devonport to Burnie area presents unique logistical challenges.

Unlike Hobart and Launceston:

  • Installer availability and accredited teams are more limited.
  • Travel distances between jobs are larger and further from our warehouses making scheduling more complex.
  • Installers typically service the region in scheduled blocks rather than continuously.

This means installs are carefully grouped and planned well in advance. If weather, equipment delivery, or approvals shift even slightly, entire install blocks can be delayed.

On top of this, industry-wide pressure, particularly increased battery demand and supply chain constraints, has amplified these challenges in the North West more than anywhere else in Tasmania.

What we’re doing:

  • Bringing in additional installation teams from other regions to help complete more installs.
  • Actively recruiting solar installers outside Tasmania to bring more accredited installation crews to service the area.
  • Improving upfront transparency so expectations are clear from the start.

Burnie-Smithton

Current estimated installation timeframes in Burnie-Smithton: up to 4 months from approval

Why this region has the longest wait times:

Burnie to Smithton is our most challenging region operationally and we want to be transparent about the reasons.

Unlike Hobart and Launceston:

  • Installer availability is more limited.
  • Travel distances between jobs are much larger and further from our Legana warehouse.

What we’re doing

  • Booking installers in longer regional blocks.
  • Using installation teams from other areas where possible to help move more installs through.
  • Improving upfront transparency so expectations are clear from the start.

What to expect

If you’re waiting, it’s not because your job has stalled, it’s because we’re aligning multiple moving parts to ensure your installation is completed safely, correctly, and in one visit.

We understand the wait is frustrating, and we genuinely appreciate your patience while we work through these regional constraints.
